Lilac 0.2.0.0 released
It's been over two months since my last update --- anyway, Lilac 0.2.0.0 is here. Here's a summary of the changes.
1 Backlinks for line labels
Line labels are labels for a particular line inside a code block. Below is an example:
1 is a line label. Lilac now adds a backlink just after it, so that clicking on that shows a popup of all areas that link back to this label. This is useful because oftentimes it's not obvious where exactly in the prose we refer to a particular line label, when we're looking at a code block.
Working on this small feature took far more effort than I originally planned. I've come to the realization that I probably need to use better data structures here than what I'm currently using.
2 Multi-cell glossary items
Glossary items can now have more than one paragraph associated with them. For example, the glossary item below has 2 paragraphs, such that clicking on the item highlights all two paragraphs.
- bar
- 🔗 baz
This paragraph is part of "bar".
This was far easier to implement than backlinks for line labels. I don't expect to use this feature all that often, but I can rest easy knowing that it's there when I need it.
3 Closing thoughts
I still haven't posted this work on any link aggregator site like Reddit or Hacker News, because well, I am not sure if it is ready to gain new users. Not because it's not ready for every day use, but more because I am not sure I can handle the burden of maintaining it for anyone other than myself.
Until next time, happy hacking!
